I stumbled across this interesting role playing game about a month ago, but wasn't able to find an English translation until yesterday. After taking a look at the book, I'm impressed!
Basically, this is a game that contains its own setting: Near Future, Earth. These mechanized space aliens, called The Void, have launched an assault upon Humanity about 30 years ago. Humanity was getting slaughtered, until a young girl unlocked the secret weapon that allowed Earth to have a fighting chance of survival: The Heart.
You play as a "Princess", a fairy tale themed heroine, with the advanced weaponry of a mecha-like battle suit as your Dress Code. This technology allows you to harness your internal power, weaponize it, and protect you at the same time against The Void. So, my initial reading of the game, this blends Magical Girl with Mecha. And it's actually a pretty cute and cool design!
The game is setup to be hosted within a special academy within Japan. You do all the things normal school "girls" do, and you train to defend Earth. (I say girls, because there is LGBTQ recognition within this game.) The game comes complete with a cast of NPCs, Villians, as well as sample Princesses, complete with character sheets. But, you have the opportunity to totally create your own heroine!
This game does offer a unique difference from most other TTRPGs that I've played, in that it doesn't use dice. Instead, you use a regular Poker deck of cards. All 54 of them with the Jokers included. And you don't just draw cards to determine if you win a challenge. You actually build a hand of ten cards (the GM holds 15). So, there's a bit of strategy in this game that matches the energy of something like Magic The Gathering-- or maybe something like regular old Poker. I'm not sure which, as I'm still wrapping my head around the Rules section. This game is definitely different!
The game offers two modes of character creation, the Quick Start, where you pick a completed character (one of the sample Princesses), or you can Construct your own Princess, and it appears that you may either pick and choose, or leave your character up to the hands of Fate, and pick some cards.
But after my very quick skimming of the core book (which is a nice 183 pages), I'm already excited to play this little gem someday. And bonus, there's an expansion called, Valkyrie Island, that I'll be looking at too.
