I'm slightly envious of the people who have enough of an understanding of mixology to make drinks like this which presumably taste very nice.

Back in my 30s I used to play Bartender at all my friends parties.... I was also the nominated designated driver for many of them. Half of mixology is simply knowing that the ingredients exist!

I was the designated driver at the beach. Mostly because I don't like being drunk though. The altered brain state causes my anxiety to skyrocket basically as soon as I get tipsy.

I do love the TASTE of drinks though. So I still drink them. Moderation just comes easy. Thing is, half the things I try to make on my own taste ... eh. And ocassionally they're inedible. I tried mixing coffee and rum and got curdled milk. The thing is, I KNOW you can make a hard coffee, but apparently the specific liquor I used was just a no go.

Reminds me of the time I decided it was a great idea to make an Irish Amaretto Sour....

I made the typical Sour, and added a shot of Baileys Irish Cream to it. Shook it in my shaker with ice...

I was determined to drink it. Cause we can't waste good booze.

Girl I am the "anything is edible if you're brave enough" girl and even I said nope to a curdled coffee. You poor thing.

The drink looks cool but I don't drink alcohol much so it probably tastes nasty to me. xD I would make my own potion of healing with juice or soda. :V

Honestly it depends. Most of those fancy drinks are probably cocktails, which are the drinks that are usually pretty sugary and have a more pleasant taste.

They never use beer because it'll go flat I assume, which would also be a problem with soda. Beer is what I personally associate with alcohol tasting NASTY. Though I think you could probably pull it off with fruit punch or cranberry juice!

Beer is interesting, because yes, most beer is yucky. However, that being said, there are some beers that do have a good taste. I prefer Lagers. Blue Moon is a decent one, especially with a shot of Orange, like a real orange. Amberboch was my all time favorite-- especially with hot wings. That was the only beer that would really get me tipsy after a single bottle.
