Hello! I’m just another nerdy trans woman in her 30’s. Outside of anime and rping, I’m into theater, video games, building (mostly mecha) model kits, and horror games and movies.

I got into anime first as an American kid in the 90’s introduced via VHS copies of Ghibli films and Kimba the White Lion. Naturally I was there for the Toonami anime and Tokyo Pop manga booms. My interest waxed and waned over the years but never really went way. II’d say my big current favorites / fixations are Nana (with me getting the username from the strawberry glasses), Mobile Suit Gundam, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Gregory Horror Show, Gunbuster, and Perfect Blue. Some newer anime I’ve really enjoyed recently are Journal with Witch, Call of the Night (maybe obvious from the avatar), Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk, Digimon Breakbeat, and This Monster Wants to Eat Me. In general, I will say I'm an absolute sucker for mecha and yuri.

In regards to magical girl stuff, since that does seem to be a big part of this place, I admit they’re somewhat of a blindspot. However, I loved Card Captor Sakura as a kit. And later I ended up re-reading it along with Sailor Moon and Magical Knight Rayearth. Honestly kinda excited for the new Rayearth remake! I’m also a fan of Kiki’s Delivery Service, Tweeny Witches / Magical Girl Squad Alice, Flower Girl Lun Lun, Little Witch Academia, Ultra Maniac, and obviously Utena too if that counts. Honestly, I need to watch more magical girl stuff anyway so maybe this will give me a kick in the pants to do so.

With RPing, I got into late 00's on usual places like GaiaOnline, role-player dot net, Roleplay Gateway, roleplayer guild, etc.doing free form RP threads for years. Did play posts all through high school and more sporadically afterwards on various forums and more recently a few Discord servers. But regardless, the style I’ve developed has been somewhat slow but with multiple paragraphs per post, usually devoting a lot of detail to my character’s headspace. In terms of what I like playing, what I tend to really care writing about is drama, comedy, and (mostly gay) romance. I can write combat just fine, though.

I got into tabletop rpgs senior year of high school and big into them during and after college into the 2010s. First introduced via Call of Cthulhu and fittingly rough for this forum, BESM and Maid RPG. My absolute favorite would have to be the pbta darling Monster Hearts, which I’ve GMed before. I also have years worth of experience in Fate, New World of Darkness / Chronicles of Darkness, and D&D 5e. Though I have a love-hate relationship with the later. Currently, I’m in a Lancer campaign and about to start GMing a Persona themed campaign in a One Roll Engine hack.

But I’m here mostly to wanna try out a play by post game or two as a chance of pace to the voiced TTRPGs campaigns I’m usually in.

Welcome!

When I saw that you're into Mecha, I thought of Lancer. I'm also thinking Mekton Zeta-- a literal Gundam Wing RPG without the copyright stuff. You may also like Teenagers From Outerspace (put out by the same publisher, R. Talsorian Games-- it's got a comedy vibe to it, and it's a game that someday I'll play. The book was a fun blast to read too!

You've got a few anime that I've never heard of, and some that have been on my watch list for seemingly ever! Although I did start watching Magical Knight Rayearth a few months ago-- I really need to finish that series. Obviously, I'm going to shamelessly plug Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha-- you'd probably really like it, as it has a very mecha feel while being magical girl as well (and I just adore the musical scores too)-- especially with the Movies, they're leaning harder into the mecha-inspired magical girl outfits. And bonus, feel free to watch/stream the entire first three seasons here on Prismatica. (I think I've also got the four movies too, but they're only available in Japanese with subtitles). I will add a nod to Gunbuster. I loved the OP, Aim High! Maybe someday, I'll actually watch more mecha anime, because that is an interest. I remember playing Robotech in highschool. Ah, memories...

I remember Gaia Online. My first forum, I tried to build an avatar-clone thing-a-ma-bob just like Gaia had. And it was mostly successful-- but I also had a lot of help developing it. I lacked the artwork, because I'm a writer, not an artist! 😅 Anyway, you prefer to do character developement-- paragraphs of description, perhaps monolouge to really build out what your characters not only sees but feels. Play by Post certianly is a good vehicle for that. I am looking forward to seeing what you create!

You've played Maid? I've been itching to try the chaos of that game. Obviously, it's probably not the same being played PbP, but we're a strange bunch over here too (speaking totally for myself here!) Another TTRPG you might like, which I had to track down and did, indeed, find: Armed Girl RPG: Princess Wing. It's very mecha-like, AND magical girl. It uses a deck of playing cards rather than dice, which I think is pretty neat. I would imagine playing that PbP style, each player would have their own deck of cards standing by-- but I'd have to read the rules again.

Persona. Is that by the same company that puts out the Traveller TTRPG, Mongoose? It sounds familiar. I'll have to google it.

Anyway, welcome! Let's have some fun.

Welcome to Prismatica @Strawberry! The only magical girl anime that I've seen so far has been Sailor Moon, my wife got me to watch it about six years ago. I remember seeing an episode of Cardcaptor Sakura once as a kid in the 90's but I was more into Pokemon.
