Yet another classic I've unearthed, Teenagers from Outerspace, appears to be a hilarious game of the early anime trope style of role playing games. Just read this intro:

EEK! EEK! YATTA! YATTA! EEK! EEK!

Tommy Tanaka dove under his desk as the Disco Dwarves from Dimension X teleported with a "pop" into the Homeroom. Zap rays sizzled overhead, vaporizing his English is Fun textbook and scorching one of the slower freshmen nearby. There was a sound like tearing rubber as, in the corner, Vilar Monstered Out to his full thirteen feet-two and began throwing desks around. Cano started to shapechange, but a stray bolt from a Boy / Girl gun turned into a cute blond Cannette.

Rami cringed behind her desk, her saucer-sized eyes wide with mindless terror, (actually, everything about Rami was mindless), the tip of her long fluffy tail stuffed in her mouth. "What do we do now?" she wailed at Tommy. "No problem," said Kev, pulling the pin on his Weird Science 101 project and lofting it casually toward the Dwarves. There was a thunderous paisley explosion and the room was suddenly filled with hot buttered popcorn....

Welcome to the world of TEENAGERS FROM OUTER SPACE: the amazingly weird role-playing game that lets you become a character in your very own (or even somebody else's) Japanese Animation Comedy Show! Complete with everything you'll need to create Silly Superpowers, Gonzo Gadgets, Bikini Battlesuits, Mecha Mayhem, Magical Girlfriends and the ever popular sex-changing Boy / Girl Gun, this new edition of the original award-winning game is guaranteed to change the way you look at anime (and roleplaying) forever!
(Yeah, I ripped that off DriveThruRPG), but I'm assuming that came off the back cover. I really miss some of this delicious foreshadowing of the setting description. I'm excited to play this game just because of the Boy/Girl gun gadget thingy! 😅

So, I actually ended up splurging while I was drunk last night and bought this. And this morning, I'm laughing my ass off at the sarcastic humor that was prevalent during the 80s (and later revisions in the 90s) when this book was written. Oh! And can't forget about all the aged like milk references, like VCRs and [cassette] tapes! But the references toward shows like Ranma 1/2 and Tenchi Muyo!, and let's not forget about Sailor Moon! Chefs kiss energy here. Having all this nostalgia really encourages me to run a game using this system! I can't wait to get to the section on mechanics...

Okay, so I just have to share this tidbit on page 22-23:
Humans are people just like you. (Sure, we're making a heck of an assumption here, but work with us, okay?) They don't have flying saucers, weird alien powers, or even look all that strange. So why play a human when you can do that right now, and you don't even need a COPY of this book?

Simple. As a human, you belong to the coolest race in the Galaxy.

See, before the aliens discovered Earth, there was absolutely no teen culture anywhere in the Galaxy. You were born (hatched, extruded or whatever), grew to adulthood, and ended up doing useful, productive things like blowing up solar systems and taking people to Meet Your Leader.

There was no fast food. There were no shopping malls. Nobody drag-raced spacecruisers. There was no Rock and Roll. There was only a Vast Whirling Nebula of Infinite Stars Spinning in Cosmic Emptiness , occasionally punctuated with a dull "boom!" as somebody somewhere accidentally detonated a
planet.

It was a Dark Time in the Galaxy.
This game appears to have the chaotic/batshit-crazy/unhinged energy I'm looking for!
