What's under the hood? (OS edition)

What operating system do you prefer to use?

On my main PC, I use Windows 11 Pro. Why? Unreal Engine. I know that I can recompile for Linux, but my time is super precious to me, and most people who play games run Windows right now. And being that I'm older now, I just want my computer and software to work without too much futzin around.

My laptop, that I recently reacquired from my fiancee, covered in dust, now has Ubuntu Linux on it. I figured if I'm going to try to get back into the Technical Help Desk/Software Support life, I should probably familiarize myself with a true geek's operating system. Am I ready to run Kommander instead of Gnome yet? No, but gimme a few minutes to break the damn thing first, 'kay?

I guess I technically can't forget my phone. I prefer Android. I constantly hear my fiancee screaming at her phone to Restart, at least once a day. I haven't rebooted my phone since like April.

I use quite a few devices. There's my college laptop (Windows 11), old computer I used before going to college (Macbook Air) and, for web hosting on my own personal websites, Ubuntu Linux with DigitalOcean. Plus my Samsung phone and iPad. So, quite a few devices.

As for which I prefer, I would say Windows as well.

Also, if you haven't rebooted your phone since April, I have some good (or bad) news for you. I haven't updated my Samsung since December 2024. The popup still tells me I gotta install the 12/01/24 update, but you can snooze it indefinitely.

I'm currently dual booting Windows 11 and Ubuntu at the moment! I tried Linux Mint in the past too on a mechanical hard drive so it was super slow. I opted to go with Ubuntu with my external SSD instead. If I could ditch Windows all together I would but for now this is the next best thing.
