Scapple is a Mind-Mapping software, released by the makers of Scrivener, and for $20, it's pretty nice! It would be really nice this functionality was already included inside of Scrivener, but perhaps in version 4 it'll happen. A writer can dream, can't she?
While I'm not the most comfortable working with visual data like Mind-Mapping, honestly, the last time I really used it was in college, and that was back when the dinosaurs roamed the Earth. I'm finding that it's really useful for keeping track of connections. Right now, I'm using it to keep track of who's related/knows who in my Character Bible. I'm also using it to keep my subplots organized.
I do wish that the software had more alignment/spacing options. Being able to evenly space out the Nodes would please my eyeballs. Also, you can only insert text into each Node. I also wish I could add images to a node as well-- then I could create that typical criminal cork-board you see in the movies where the mastermind has an entire bedroom wall littered with newspaper clippings and photographs all connected by strings.
