Anyone ever tried learning how to draw? I always wanted to draw my own characters as I imagine them but I was never good with my hands. Though, I can at least draw straight lines thanks to Peter Han's Dynamic Sketching videos. I'm thinking about grinding the skill during the weekends for the summer.
If you have any wisdom you could impart, then I implore you to share!

Back when I was in college, I took a Drawing 101 course, and had a lot of fun with it. Had a green spiral-bound sketchbook, dropped about $400+ on art supplies (pens, pencils, markers, paints, an art bin, erasers, etc) and it really helped. Decades ago, around the same time, I was reading the How to Draw Manga series, which helped a lot as well, especially in terms of learning more abstract and simpler styling. And this is my latest purchase, that I'm really eager to learn, because I absolutely adore the Chibi style.

These days though, I don't really use pencil and paper, I invested in the digital equivalent: I got a Xencelabs drawing tablet, a Logitech G502 Hero high precision mouse, and I use a variety of software applications:
The real question is, have I had any real time to dedicate to this hobby? No, not really. But someday, I'll get to it!

I'm terrible when drawing from scratch without having something to look at but you would never believe how amazing I am when I have an object or something I can look at while drawing. That's actually a huge gift I have. Just that if I can't look at a physical object or something to view then I'm terrible at it.
